Pullin the maters in CA

Posted by ninjabut USDA z 8,CA (My Page) on

Well, we haven't had a true frost, but what's left of the tomatoes are all bug eaten and full of cat smiles!
I picked about a dozen ripe and a dozen green yesterday. Also half dozen eggplant and about a dozen peppers!
It's getting chilly here in sunny CA! Time to pull the maters , peppers, eggplant, GBs, cukes!
Time to cut back the asparagus for our first harvest next spring!
Time to get a big load of horse Sh**!!!!! and top dress all of the beds!

Yep, I still have 5 or 6 big toms and I'm waiting on them to color up a little before I pick them.
44 degrees last night, it's getting chilly. Time for more blankets on the bed.

My tomatoes and eggplants are looking pretty ratty, but the peppers still look okay. Some select pepper plants will overwinter in the GH, the others will get the chop once they stop producing.

Some of my pepper plants are still blooming. I guess I will pot them up and put them on by back porch. I need the space for my winter vegetables. We don't get much frost until January and I can usually protect things with a frost blanket or Christmas tree lights.
