Apart from the height you need to bear in mind that Asparagus is perennial and will be in situ for years. It is best to give it its own dedicated space where it is unlikely to be disturbed by the cultivation required for annual and biennial crops.

Yes, asp is taller than raspberry. But Flora is right, it is quite the open shade due to those frilly leaves, and I myself get an arugula crop in the same bed in Fall. So anything requiring full sun, no (like raspberry). Anything tolerating part shade is OK.

And also considering that the two beds are 8' apart, both 5' beds with 3' path.

So in separate beds? What is the orientation of the beds relevant to the sun exposure? E-W or N-S

The beds are from E to W. It seems I can't fit the asparagus into any beds. They are tall, but not heavy shade. I was thinking of digging a bed outside my fenced area, but wild life is plenty here.

Asparagus is one of the very few crops that is never bothered by wildlife. It is very demanding in soil type and requires huge amounts of organic matter to produce a normal crop. I always carry my greenhouse residue which is mostly peat moss and dump it on the asparagus bed. The result is very productive asparagus.

I'm not sure about this. Some folks reported that deer has eaten some of the asparagus ferns. There are also reports on wild life taking on the spears.

If I can decide on where to set up my asparagus bed, I can mix the soil with some fully composted wood chips and sawdust and let the soil over-winter. If I dig up the beds in spring, I can only use them as mulch. But I can still mix with peat moss.

Indeed deer will chomp down on spears and ferns.
