I have selected two Sweet Potatoes to grow as vines for cuttings to grow as slips for next year (2015) planting.
These Potatoes are fixed in the pots at about 1 inch deep in the pots.
I am posting the pic. to share with you guys.

What is the reason you did it so early? The last frost date is March 15 here North Florida. I usually plant the sweet potatoes around April 1.

Maryland's weather is too cold to start sweet potato slips in March.
We start rooting slips by end of May which will be ready by second week of June giving a shorter season to grow for taters before first warning of frost.
By saving few vines indoor during winter we can have slips in time for planting.
