Hi, does anybody know when to cut back asparagus for the winter in central florida? I'm in the Tampa region.

Thanks

Never heard of needing to cut them back. After the tops are dead you can cut them back.

Thanks, the only thing I'm worried about is if they die off naturally in January and come back when it warms up in March, is that enough time off? I thought I had read on the package for them that if you didn't get cold enough you could either a. stop their water supply or b. cut them back to the ground. Not sure if this is correct...

i think three months off is plenty of time. The advice for this area is to cut down or withhold water for one month, then fertilize, mulch, water and harvest.

Will this spring be your first harvest?
