Hopi Blue Corn

A few years ago I was in NM. visiting a friend. He had a quart mason jar filled with blue corn seeds an elderly area resident had given him. He's not mutch of a gardener (VERY arid part of the state) and since he knew I am he gave them to me, along with some anasazi beans. I took them back to OH and this past season I did a 3 sisters planting with the blue corn, beans, and pumpkins. The corn had ok pollination, some of the ears were sparse, some were great. I started stripping them and found out some ears had a red cob, some had a white cob. The white ones had slightly larger kernels and were easier to strip. I'm wondering if there are different strains or races of blue dent corn out there, and if one is better than the other. FWIW I'll probably only replant the white ones just because the end product is easier to work with. Anyone familiar with blue corn types?
