Looking for those who have transplanted asparagus

My 60 foot row of 13 year old asparagus is doing well; but I would like to move it to the east side of the garden where the tall ferns will not shade my late summer/early fall raised beds. I then will use the row for determinate tomatoes. I've read how to do it and what a chore it will be. So have you done it and what were the results? Did root pruning them in the move make the crowns more vigorous? Would you do it again or would you just replant new crowns? What about the roots that remain, will they sprout new plants?
Thanks in advance for your input
