Due to a tragic misunderstanding of how to plant yellow onions purchased in a cell pack, we did not get any full sized onions at the point they were expected in August.
After realizing I should have split them apart, I did so, and planted a few of the healthier ones as single stalks. Now it's mid November and each plant is looking very big and healthy but nowhere near bulbous onions underground.

Given their age now, do you think these onions are just wasting space? Think they will ever get around to making full sized onions?
