Watermelons and chicken manure

For the past two years, I've been able to add a truck load of aged horse manure, mixed with sand, to my watermelon patch. I've since lost my supplier, and the guy that tills my patch for me, can get me a load of chicken manure in

place of it. I know that chicken manure is high in nitrogen, and I'm wondering, if it will be too strong for watermelons. Will I be risking getting a bunch of white

hearts. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

It will do ok if You incorporate it early like fall or winter. If it is fresh I would not use close to planting time.
