No luck yet. I found a reference on Thompson & Morgan's site that seemed to imply they had once carried it (instructions for storing & using yacon)... you might want to contact them. Salt Spring Seeds might be worth asking too, if they don't grow yacon, they probably know someone who does... and they are fairly close to you.

Glad to hear that you found a source, Annette, and that they did well. I tried yacon once here, but my growing season is not long enough. Tuber formation seems to be triggered by the short days of late Summer / early Autumn, just a few weeks before frost here... I'd have to grow them in pots & move them into a greenhouse to have a chance. The small tubers I did get were tasty, though.

When I lived in San Jose, I tried growing the crosnes (they were sold as Chinese artichokes). Interesting mint-like plants, but the yield was too small for my liking, and a gopher took most of the tubers (in spite of the gopher spurge planted around them)... so I never grew them again. I really should give them another try here, with no gophers & better soil.

I wonder if there is a way to mechanize yacon planting and harvest. As far as I can tell, everything I see is collection of seeds (corms) by hand. I suppose one can plant using a potato machine, and harvest with a sweet potato harvester, so the only unknown is how to collect seed mechanically.
