Suggestions needed 'for bank in front of my house'

I'm looking for ideas on something to plant on this bank in my front yard. It's about 150 feet long 10-12 wide...I know this will be expensive but... my husband & son hate weedeating it and sometimes just let it go so it will be worth it to me.
I'd like to have a ground covering that will spread and keep out weeds "if that's possible" Any other idea's would be GREAT! The bank gets alot of sun in the morning not as much in the afternoon. Any help would be great and would make my husband and son very happy!!!
Thanks alot,
Christina

| Christina, from the looks of your "problem" it might be possible to even out the grade allowing for a sloped but mowable and landscapable front yard. I would get quoted on scraping off any top soil (?) that may be on the bank and having the bulk of the "hump" taken away; or even better used to fill someplace where you need it. It looks as if this might work. Perhaps if the slope is too great than a retaining wall could be utilized. This obviously would be very expensive. Any kind of groundcover would be maintainance intensive and subject to erosion. Hope this helps. |
