There are numerous annual vines that you could grow ... morning glories (Heavenly Blue is always a favorite ... don't care so much for 'Grandpa Ott' after trying last year) ... moonflower vine, mandevilla, black-eyed susan vine, etc .... the list goes on an on. Google the possibilities. One vine with burgundy foliage is (that color) sweet potato vine. If you want perennials, the list is extensive there, too, but keep in mind that some of those vines can grow to monstrous proportions. The genus, Clematis, might offer many good possibilities for something that is not too overwhelming.

A small-flowering clematis could be beautiful there. Etoile Violette is personal favorite and relatively easy to care for (it is a group 3 meaning that you just prune it back to about 8 inches above the ground in early spring) that would brighten that area but not overwhelm it (and I think would look great with the yellowish foliage in the background). You could supplement with annual vines for the first few years as suggested above, which would tide you over while the clematis reaches its potential. Of course there are many, many other clematis options as well.

You may want to look at an ornamental grape vine. They are beautiful with gorgeous burgundy leaves for a long time in the fall. The grapes are inedible but also are beautiful. I use them for garnishing party platters, table decor, etc.

You can also plant more than one thing, like a grapevine with a clematis or two mixed in for variety in blossoms.
