Unless you literally have no trees or other existing conditions on your lot that wouldn't be on the survey plat, my first step would be to toss out a satellite-generated base map and physically measure everything. Unless they're using defense-industry satellite imagery there's a significant margin of error. A 40 year old tree 8 feet from where it "should" be will ruin your day on install.

I guess, since you paid for a plan, you should follow their plan. What is the problem? Didn't they tell you what plants to plant?

That would be hard for us to help you with if we don't know your zone or have an actual photo of the area you wish to landscape.

Go to your profile and put your planting zone in the Zone spot. This will help those in the same zone to recommend things for you.

Also, do you have unlimited funds? Are you up for decks, pools, firepits and various hardscapes, or is this a simple lawn and planting beds?

I assume you got just the basic site plan - layout of the property lines and the footprint of the house/structures within that framework.

The next step is to identify any other large immovables (like trees, existing shrubs, driveways, etc.) that don't show up and mark them on the site plan. Check out 'triangulation measurements' to find out how to do this accurately.

Then if the plat is to a scale that works for you, invest in a roll of tracing paper and try sketching in some bed layouts or other areas of landscaping interest (patios, terraces, walkways, ponds/pools, playground areas, etc.). Once you've got those configured the way you like, then you can start contemplating plant selection. Determine areas of sun or shade, need for privacy and any plant preferences and make selections accordingly - your local garden center can help you with works in your area.

If the site plan is to too small a scale to work with comfortably, then you will need to enlarge to a more workable size. This gets slightly more complicated.

This is just the very basic bare bones of how to approach what's next......it can get as complicated as you like from here :-)
