Paver or Composite Material Steps

Hi, I have a basement window directly under the sliding door to my back yard. I want to have a paver patio installed. Should I go with paver steps that would block up the basement window or just have steps built out of a composite material that will sit over the window? Will composite steps look strange going to a paver patio?

Check with your local zoning department.

Why anyone would put a window directly under a sliding door baffles me, and it may not be legal to block that window.
