Fountain using Tree as Base

Hi All,

I just moved into a new house in the city and have a small back patio yard. I would like to put a small fountain/bird bath in the backyard to promote a healthier ecosystem. I don't have much room for an actual fountain but I do have a wonderful tree in the back that I can use as a base. I was thinking of somehow using the tree trunk as a base and anchoring pots/plates on the trunk to create some sort of fountain. Has anyone done that? I've heard fountains aren't too hard to make. Any ideas?

There's an a article at the Palitas Nursery website on how to build birdbaths using drip emitters. For a single birdbath, perhaps the tubing can be attached to the tree to drip from overhead.

According to the article "Most birds prefer a bath that is partially exposed with very low vegetation under it but a tree or shrub nearby so they can land in the tree and hop or fly a short distance to the bath or fly from the bath quickly to the tree if danger approaches. Put the bath near the edge or dripline of a tree or bush that likes a lot of water."
