| I am stumped on the corner of the house and what to put there. There used to be a 12' tall evergreen tree and that was 20 years old and about 3/4 dead so I took it out. Now I am seeing if anybody has any ideas on what to plant there. That area is 6' x 7' and the roof of the house is about 11 feet. In the morning that area gets sun and the afternoon it gets shade. The shrubs along side of the house have dark green needles that come in about May. I am not looking for anything dark green really and thinking something with color there. I live in zone 5. So looking for ideas on what to plant there. Thanks in advance!

| If you were zone 6 or 7 I'd just be yelling "Japanese Maple, go pick your cultivar" to you. Zone 5....I bet you could find something. I mean it is right next to your house so it's bound to be warmish. Or at least not the coldest part of the city. This first one would probably require pruning but I love them. There are 100's of these. Some are zone 5 hardy. If you think the area gets six to eight hours of sun this might do. |
Here is a link that might be useful: Attractive Japanese Maple Website
