What to plant in front of our home??

We're yanking out some ugly bushes! What works well to fill these gaps in? We know nothing about shrubs and need something easy to maintain. Something colorful or flowering would be nice! Thanks for the help.

rather than me making suggestions for what plants to use, better to show the picture (if you agree with it) to someone at a local garden center, or forum for your area and get plant suggestions from them. My objective is to show you how you could arrange and place plants, which is half of the battle.

Just a suggestion. I did similiar thing in front and made a flower garden and have yet to gain control of grass and weeds creeping into garden. So my advice is -- also ask GW about that aspect of it.....how to prep it properly and establish bed so u can avoid my pitfall !!
