first time homebuying redoing front landscape. help please

We just bought a new house and I HATE the way it looks from the road. Not only does it have an ugly huge deck on the front but also old outdated evergreen bushes. I would like to put shutters up redo the plants preferable with perenials and open up the front of the deck to walk out. I am needing help on any advice to make this look better and also help picking plants.

It appears there is no need for railing around the deck - looks like one step down except on the far left. First step is yanking out these huge shrubs. I'd ask how they could be pulled out so you won't have the root systems to deal with. Cosmetic changes like the shutters you suggest will be great. A view from farther back would be a help.

Yes I agree with the comment above, first of all get rid of them shrubs as they are the biggest problem, once thye have gone, I would say go for neat turfing and paving.

I "second" the need for a better photo that explains the overall front yard. All the close-ups do not give a "feel" for what's there. If you could post a picture that is in focus, it would be helpful, too.
