Landscape Design

Starting my design

I have a question about beginning design. I have my beds drawn and a general idea about colors, plants and the general style, but I'm not sure about what to place where. I want to use drifts of grasses and perennials, small bushes here and there. Should I start with grasses and then work from there?

If you have any suggestions about design books, that might be helpful too
