Changes for my foundation plantings

I've been gardening for many years, but I need to reduce the work load since arthritis is kicking in. I want to start with the front foundation area. It now has oodles of perennials, and I want to replace most of them with 'interesting' evergreens, textures, small shrubs and will re-use a few perennials. I would like a lush full look that doesn't require so much maintenance. I hate the typical cookie cutter look of a few yews against the foundation! I'm wondering if there is a dwarf type Red Japanese maple that doesn't get bigger than 4' tall for one area. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated. The following photos of our home were taken in the month of June, and as you can see, it's almost all perennials. Thanks!
