The area on the side of my house is very compacted and doesn�t grow grass well and in the winter when it rains it becomes a mess. I�d like to add crushed gravel along the side of the house but I�m not sure what the best type to add and if there is anything else I need to do. I planned on having the first few inches of soil dug up and then just adding the crushed gravel directly on top. Is that fine? Any thing else I should do? What type of gravel should I use? I keep the garbage/recycling on the side of the house and bring my mower through this area.
