Help with picking out plants and shrubs

The front of my house looks like the following:

I would like some ideas of what to plant to make it fuller. Yes, I did remove some shrubs that was pretty ugly that came with the house purchase. I'm in zone 5 and this area only sees the sun until noon time.

I'm copying a couple of ideas, but I'm not sure if the they would be good for my zone.

This picture was taken on a road trip. I liked the greenery above the evergreen. I'm not sure if this can even be identified. I wouldn't mind some minor color with it. Also, I need to keep in mind of the height of the windows.

I also like this concept

Any help would be appreciated. I would prefer low maintenance, but not at the expense of having something acceptable.

It doesn't make sense when there is an easy way to put a picture directly into the thread, that one would place multiple "copy and paste" links instead ... all of which add up to be more time consuming, multiplied by the number of people viewing the pictures. You can add one picture per follow-up post ... as many as you wish, making it convenient.

In the first picture I see your house is in the shade. Does it face North? You could go to the garden center and pick out some perennials for shade. You have hostas in one of your example pictures.
Annuals will also help it fill in for now. I am not in zone 5 so I can not recommend any actual plants.
