| I recently discover a valve box buried next to my foundation. In the picture, the valve box is under the bed of rocks. In it is a check valve for the spigot sticking out of the ground. Because the valve box is partially filled w/ stones, it acts like a dry well and collects water. Should I be concern that there's standing water in there so close to the foundation? If so, should I just fill up the box full w/ stones so at least the water will be closer to the surface so it can run off? Thanks. |

| That small a box will not affect your foundation. You might not have the right check valve in there - normally the check valve is higher than the spigot to prevent backflow. That arrangement would not pass inspection in Phoenix. |
