You have a beautiful house and I suggest a landscaping design "Floral Front Yard". Overflowing with your favorite flowers, window boxes are a irresistible draw for the eye. Consider planting flowers in a shade that complements the color of your home. Or, for dramatic effect, mix in a second plant that picks up your trim color.

The cantilevered split-levels have more built-in restrictions with planting, making it more difficult to add charm with landscaping. Here's my "take" on a general scheme. It uses groundcover around the base of the house that doesn't exceed 12" height (purple in the pic). The pyramidal tree and shrub I would consider to be topiaries that are never allowed to grow beyond height and width shown. Enlarged beds below lawn trees would be a good place for something colorful.
