I don't see how the beds down below could disguise the split level roof line Unless you plant a tree of course. It looks like you could use some deciduous shrubs.

I like the split height, it makes your house interesting. .

Here is an idea for a planting arrangement. it would be nice to see the walk and entrance area beefed up.

Yes, it's only an idea, but the above arrangement covers up a lower level window to the right of the stoop. Rooms below grade can sometimes be dark enough on their own.

Good point Duluth. In my zeal to get rid of existing plants, I accidentally covered the window in brick. And then promptly forgot about it! The window has been added back in.
