| What's the best way to handle mulch next to the foundation? It's a brick foundation. Is there a difference between leaf mulch, wood mulch or pine nuggets? (I know the physical difference - does one attract pests more than the other?) I would prefer leaf mulch, as that is what I use in the rest of the yard. I'm in Northern Virginia - the mulch will be used around azaleas and holly bushes.

| Does your brick work start atop a cast concrete foundation wall? Rules for mulch are not much different than putting soil against a foundation wall. Slope away from wall and keep level below top of waterproof sill plate. Don't know about the pest issue, but you can research wood mulch issues for nitrogren deprivation. |
