I purchased a cherry laurel plant that had the root in a "ball" covered with burlap. Silly me cut the strings and pulled off the burlap. Little do I know the ball split completely in half (clean break). It was so clean I saw no roots sticking out where it split in half. I just planted the shrub assuming half the roots are there or no roots were on the side that busted off???

Is there any hope for survival, should I return, or buy a new one?
