I lost a Japanese butterfly maple and although I loved it, I don't think I want to try again. I'm looking for a focal point planting to replace it. I'd love something about the same size. I don't want anything taller than the gutter. Looking for flowers/ good fall color, interesting shape and/or bark. I already have a serviceberry, Cornus mas, Black lace elderberry and Diablo ninebark. The spot is at the drip edge of a large maple so it gets sun until noon. I'm in the Chicago area. Any suggestions?
