Plant ideas for a screen

The southwest corner of my backyard lawn forms a 90 degree angle bounded by two runs of chain link fence. That makes it difficult to cut with the riding mover. That corner also has my neighbor's 50 foot tall locust and 10 foot tall forsythia bushes so its shaded although the grass grows well. I'd like to plant a line of some type about 10 feet long parallel to the backline and 8 feet from it to create an area to dump my coarse yard waste materials/weeds until I get a full load to haul to the municipal compost facility. I compost kitchen scraps and non weeds in another portion of the yard. The screening would be to hide the coarse materials. I am looking for plant suggestions for the screen. Evergreen would be nice but a dense deciduous hedge would be good to for winter screening. I do not want it to be taller than 4 feet so as not to block the view of the countryside beyond the fence. Any suggestions?
Thanks
