The east side of my two story house needs to have some type of shrub or ornamental grass planted. The building is covered in dark brown lap cedar siding with barn red window trim. Any suggestions for zone 3/maybe 4 plants that will do well with morning sun-afternoon shade. I have a relatively narrow rock bed flanking the house that is 6 ft. wide so many shrubs will be too wide for the depth of the bed. I thought something tall between the door and window might be nice but really at a loss for what to plant. The entire space is about 14 ft. long.
