Flower Bed design/suggestions

We are in the final stages of a house remodel/addition. And looking for ideas from this community. I have scoured internet pictures and cannot find a good inspiration picture for the front flowerbeds.

When we purchased the home there were dead trees and lots of dead shrubs in the front yard. We removed everything dead, and have been able to get the lawn looking good. We cannot do much to the exterior, but would like to put in some basic plants (I prefer very low maintenance and modern). The interior of the house is contemporary and would like the simplest theme to be in the exterior as well. I prefer to keep the boxwoods just to save costs, but open to other ideas.

We are taking out the planters on the porch and putting in a herringbone design with the brick on the front porch. I love the idea of planters like the attached picture to replace the brick empty ones.

Any suggestions on what to do with this flower bed are greatly appreciated!
