Reno damaged concrete redesign!

Hi there,
We are mid project and cut back quite a bit of our concrete patio in order to install new footings, thinking we would re-pour exposed aggregate once the project is done. Just found out that it will cost $6000 to bring in pumper truck, so we are going to revise the design.

It has been suggested that we install flower beds under each window and perhaps some inset pavers under the door to disguise the mess, perhaps pouring some curbs in front of the beds. Does anyone have pictures of this type of entry in what will look like a traditional craftsman home, I am having trouble visualizing. I feel like an inset paver will look too modern, Also wondering if there is something we can do to lightly resurface the concrete as the contractors were hard on it during the job. Sandblasting has been suggested - but no idea if that would look too modern and also how it would look beside the paver?

Any ideas would be very much appreciated (short of re pouring the slab :)
