Help to identify unusual red-stemmed tree

hi everyone (my first post),

On a walk to work (in Orange County CA) my family passed by this brilliant red-flowering tree. As you can see from the photo http://picasaweb.google.com/juliegcho/LandscapeIdeas#55036540431178027 38
it has bright red branching in parts, bulbous red buds.
It has small flowers with thick petals and yellow centers

We would appreciate help with identifying this striking specimen so we can hunt down a grower to put this in our backyard. (We showed the photo to one landscaper today and he wasn't familiar with it.) Thanks for any help!
