Japanese Maple in full sun zone 8a?

Hey

I'm currently planning out my landscaping at my new house. I really like the look of japanese maples. The guy drawing up my plan said they do not do very good in full sun. I was wondering if there are any varieties that can be used in full sun? I'm in zone 8a in southeast mississippi. I was thinking about putting them on the corners of my house with some smaller plants around the base. On my plan I have multi trunk ligustrum tree and I was told I could also substitute crete myrtle in this spot too. Am I just out of luck on using a japanese maple?

Thanks

If it's true that Jap maple doesn't do well in sun there, you must comply. If you doubt that the designer is right, take a cruise around town and observe what Jap maples you can find. What kind of light conditions do they have? You can't give plants conditions they don't like and then expect to like the plant when it doesn't perform well.
