Companion Plant for Myoporum

I have a small 100' sq. section of garden that I am going to plant pink myoporum in as a ground cover. What other plants can I use to provide some vertical interest and color without being too big for such a small space? The area gets full sun, poor soil, and limited water (Zone 10).

Rosemary works well in small low-water gardens. Salvia greggii is a fine small upright. Penstemons vary - some don't flop. Chives. Avoid oregano - a hog - but other herbs may also work.
