| Hi!
My wife and I are looking at paying a landscape designer to install a decomposed granite pathway in our backyard. We have never done this before and want to know if the cost is appropriate. The landscaper is charging $2225 for 1.3 yards of DG with stabilizer and benda board installed. That is for delivery and installation and clean up. Is this within a reasonable estimate? Please help! Thanks! Richard |

| Richard, More info would be helpful. What is the square footage of this path? On first read, the price seems exhorbitant since there's only 1.3 yards of DG. Pictures of proposed path area? |

| The easiest way to ensure you are getting a fair bid is to obtain at least 3 and check references. Hard to say with information given what the ballpark price should be. There are too many variables that affect price, ie, what prep needs to be done before installation? how is the access to the back yard? Bob |

| Are you way out in the sticks -- far from the landscape designer and the source of the DG? Is there difficult terrain involved? For example, the path might be sloping. Or access to the path could be difficult; some houses have a very narrow access to the backyard. While 1.3 cu. yards doesn't sound like much, it weighs something like 2-2 1/2 tons. So the designer may need to use more equipment than you realize to move the DG to your property and then to the path. |
