Books and Resources for a landscaping newbie.

Howdy there,

I live in Austin, Texas. Been doing a bunch of small landscaping gigs and would like to expand my knowledge and expertise. Down the line I would like to get into edible landscape in general using natives.
Any good books you would recommend? about design, methods, aimed for the starter?
Any good landscapers forums aimed for people with businesses?

General words of advice?

Thanks in advance and have a great day,
Reed

I suggest you scour your local library. Libraries have many books on landscaping and plants.

Look around for organizations in your community that might know about native plants. Colleges that have horticultural courses may have some handouts as will your state agricultural department.

Try the bookrack at your big box hardware store.

This forum on GW is probably one of te best and there is a professionals forum on Gardenweb

There are other professional trade websites as well out there, just do a search on landscaping forum and take your pick.
