Hi All,

I am building a 20'x12' deck on grade in my front yard. Underneath the deck, I want to make sure:

1. No weeds grow

2. No rodents or vermin turn it into their home/nest

I've read that one should put down weed suppressing cloth and then put 4" of gravel over it. Can I use red lava rock for the same purpose?

Any pros over gravel? Cons I should be aware of?
