Dichondra from TX, MG re Eucalyptus

Patriz

Hi Dichondra,

My emails to you keep bouncing back, so I thought I'd post the info here...

So nice of you to say hello! Don't you just love the

Master Gardener program :) I'm still offcially in

training, but will receive my certification in

January. The volunteer hours really do add up quickly

because there are so many enjoyable things to do.

Good luck with your program there!

Regarding the Rainbow Eucalyptus....it has been

spoken for, however, there is a seed source. I

ordered the seeds from Tradewinds (link below). The

seeds are small and germination has a very low

percentage. I did start E. citriodora (ahhhh, lemon

scented) and some blue gums, too, and they had better

germination. Years ago I had some E. citriodoras in

large containers and I gave them away, due to lack of

space. I actually missed brushing up against their

lemony leaves so much that I went on the hunt for the

seeds again. They were a bit hard to find, and I

eventually got them from England. I have 3 of those

now and I love them everyday that I see them.

It's funny in that I find myself drawn to tropicals

moreso than I want to be...LOL. I have to lug in too

much into a tiny laundry room every year. This year I

also have some white/orange throat mandevilla,

gardenia, and oleander to make room for...uggg!

Well, take care and enjoy your Master Gardener

program. Fall is here, and so comes other gardening

issues and commitments. Good luck with your

Eucalyptus seeds if you order them. If I can help you

in any way, just drop me an email.

In garden spirit,

Trish :)
