Ixora winter care question for zone 8

Posted by quiltingfox 8 LA (My Page) on

I have a baby Ixora plant that is less than 6 inches tall and in a 1 gallon pot. How do I overwinter this plant in zone 8 if I leave it in a pot or if I go ahead and plant it in the ground? Our winters are so mild here that my graptoverias and echeverias all overwintered fine on the covered porch last winter - I never brought them indoors. Would love some care info on the Ixora.

Best to you and many thanks,
quiltingfox

RE: Ixora winter care question for zone 8

I have a large one that I grow in a pot here,I'm zone 8 to.I overwinter it in my greenhouse which is unheated.I do use a heat lamp on the coldest nights. They will not return here if planted in the ground,at least thats been my experience.I have lost a few also that were in pots, our winters are so unpredicatable.Good luck!Debbie
