I currently have a bunch to offer that was planted at my mothers house. She is removing some to make room for newer, named daylily, not because it was causing any problems. Every plant has its place for sure. I will keep that in mind in the future.

Same story for all day lilies...

Sad to say the solution is herbicide...it reall is practically impossible to remove the entire root system...once u think they gone, you'll notice funny lookin grass growing there, the next year you'll get a bloom from that funny lookin grass

If you get hungry...all parts of the plant are edible, tastes too if you l ow what your doing. :P

Not the same for all daylilies at all! Kwanso can be the monster that eats your desirable daylilies.
If you need to hold a difficult bank or fill a waste area Kwanso is a beautiful remedy.

I agree about the kwanso and have dug and dug and dug and still find it somewhere every year. I love my daylilies but not that one.

It may be that you are confusing Kwanso with Fulva. Click on the link for an advisory regarding fulva also know as ditch lily.

The warnings are out there Pat but you need to know the name of the variety you are concerned about.

You are right, cawleyb. I was only recently told that what I have is fulva flore pleno. I don't know about Kwanso, but this one is highly invasive.

I found this information on another site, but I don't want to copy and paste the other person's photo of Kwanso. It's much more "messy" looking.

From Stout's early description in the AHS Yearbook 1957.

" The number of fully formed petals in flowers of Flore
Pleno usually ranges from 8 to 14 and the number of well-formed stamens usually ranges from 6 to O. The flowers of the Kwanso type show wide variation in the relative numbers of petals and stamens. Frequently the only well-formed petals are those of the primary or first whorl in which case
the number of poorly developed petaloids and normal and abortive stamens is high. Decrease in the number of bladed petaloids is accompanied by increase in the number of stamens. Often
in the flowers of Kwanso the petals and petaloids are much twisted and curled. "
