It's time to cut back my Mexican Flame vine and I hate to compost all the cuttings. The butterflies love it. Cuttings root easily in water and transition to soil with no problem. It needs protection from the cold but can be grown as a houseplant in a sunny window over the winter. I can fit several cuttings in a small USPS Priority box. Please respond here if interested.

Karyn, how in the he double hockey sticks did you get yours to bloom?! I have a very large plant, in full sun, and it didn't produce ONE BLOOM this year!

Kay you've got to be kidding. I've had Mex Flames from different sources for years and they've all bloomed but this year has been the best by far. I also have 2 varieties this season. A regular bright orange and a darker orange that's almost red. I have some in full sun and others in part sun, all are blooming like crazy. Every time a piece snapped off I'd stick it in some soil or water so there's MFV's all over the place. I never feed them but do water them frequently.

Karyn, I kid you not - our weather here in NW Florida has been the worst for drought and heat in many years - none of my plants performed well! Last year, MFV was BEAUTIFUL - this year, nothing!
