Does anyone do these anymore? Seems like in the Round Robin forum, it is mostly seed swaps.

This time of year it's mostly seed swaps. Come spring the focus shifts to plants.

Once in a great while a real round robin shows up. I've been a member just over a year and I've been in ONE and I'm pretty sure that's the only one that was started.

I wonder why they aren't as popular? I used to trade here a lot and those were my favorite.

All it takes is one person to spoil the whole thing. They get the box and keep it. Or I've seen ones with good stuff in the box and then a couple people take everything good and replace it with junk so the next people in essence get nothing. Because of this, it takes a lot from a hostess/host to figure out who is good to allow into a true Round Robin so most hostesses just hold swaps now.
Some of big seed swaps can be great. The Named, Rare, or Unusual one that I'm in is excellent. Then during plant season there are box exchanges between people who are partnered. I love those too.

I guess that makes sense, Remy-it really is too bad though. I am currently signed up for the winter blues swap and am sure it will be fun!

I participated in a seed round robin last year and by the time the box got to me it was full of garbage seeds with no labels or ambiguous labels like "large yellow annual" or "wildflower mix". I still think it would be fun if there was a mechanism for insuring accountability for what you put in. Perhaps if there was a requirement to put your name on what you put in there would be less anonymous garbage loading. Also, if you had each person post the count when they receive it and when they send it out it would prevent some of the wholesale seed grabbing.
Or would it?
At any rate, I would love to give it a try again if anyone decides to start one.

I signed up for one years ago, and it never even got to me.
I had stayed away from the site since then until last fall.
I joined a couple of the seed swaps and really enjoyed them.
