Bleeding Hearts Question

Well, it looks like my back ordered Bleeding Hearts collection, both the white and the pink, aren't going to make it here as bareroots in time for me to plant out before first freeze. So, my question is, can I plant them into pots and grow them inside until Spring, then plant them out to my bed? I've read in some places that this is fine, but other sites say they don't like being moved. Any advice is appreciated. Oh, and the same question goes for my Fern Leaf Bleeding hearts, which are in the same situation.

This says you can split and divide them! Maybe it wont be a problem!:)

Here is a link that might be useful: Bleeding Hearts

RE: Bleeding Hearts Question

Thanks, Angie :) Well, hopefully they will get here in time to plant. The consensus, on several forums, seems to be go ahead and plant them when they arrive. I'm sure they won't be very large, so splitting them right now won't be an option, however, it's good to know for next year to share :)

RE: Bleeding Hearts Question

I figured if you could split them into divisions that would mean they are fine with moving. I sort of figured the ones you were getting would be too small to divide! ;)

I heard somewhere that Columbine dont like to be moved,I laughed because mine get moved quite

Good Luck! I hope you get them soon! :)
