HAVE: Yellow Allamanda and Pink Oleander

I'm back from FL and collected seeds from my oleanders and allamandas. I will send them for postage or possible trade. The allamanda seeds are fairly large an irregularly shaped and need to be shipped in a bubble mailer to prevent their getting crushed. The oleander seeds are thin and can be mailed in a regular envelope with a bit of padding.

Karyn, I just harvested Allamanda seeds yesterday - mine were spiky - how will you mail those in an envelope?

Karyn I'd love some of the allamandas and oleanders if you still have them...I can send a bubbly...how much postage should I include?...my trade list isn't updated but if you see something on it you'd like I will look and see if I still have it also if you'd rather have a trade instead of postage...I also have veggie seeds (commercial from farm supply), mostly different greens, some peas/beans, and a popcorn...also I bought some garlic sets from the farm supply I can share 2 or 3 sets of that if you're interested...thanks, Dianne

Jo the spiky part is the pod. The seeds are a flat irregular tear drop shape. Make sure the pods are brown and dry or the seeds will shrivel. Be careful opening the pods. I use gloves and a blunt knife. If you look carefully you will see a seam where the sides of the pod join together. Just press the knife into that seam and the pod will split open. If you leave them to dry long enough the pod will usually split open on it's own. There's anywhere from 2 to 12 seeds in a pod.

Dianne and Nona I will email you shortly.

Karyn, I knew the spiky 'thing' was the pod, but didn't know how to access the seeds - thanks for that technique! Hugs, Jo
