confused newbie looking for seeds to wintersow!

This is a first post and the first time looking for heirloom seeds. I love tomatoes, watermelon, canteloupe, sunflowers and anything that would work as a cut flower! I did buy 50 and 100-seed packets of zinnias and sunflowers and a few perenials. Plus, my mom sent me a bunch of seeds (love in the mist, "red poppy" and "big poppy") so I do have stuff to trade! Off to try and figure out how to do the list again!

Welcome Susan you probably have found the winter sowing forum. Last i checked zone 5 (yay) was winning the container wars.I am in Iowa but I have kin in Osceola . Check out my lists. They are pretty messy . It takes time to figure out how to make your list look great but dont let that stop you from trading Ric

If you go to www.wintersown.org, Trudi as a list of seeds suitable for winter sowing. You can get seed to winter sow for SASE from her site too. This is the person who started it all, and there is no better source of information.

Hi all. Started out researching tomatoes and somehow found Trudi's site and then discovered wintersowing! So, I have a ton of tomatoes - seriously, I have donated $25 twice, so I have many, many, many toms and I am so happy. I went ahead and wintersowed a few even though some in my zone wait until later because I just had to start! Was originally looking for seeds that I could wintersow successfully now but found a bunch of perenial seeds for sale at my local hardware store so I'm set! Ricjo22, I looked at your list and I don't even know what all that stuff is! Off to try again on setting up a trade list. Thanks for the help! I love this site! Susan

bakemom gives away newbie packs on the winter sowing forum, and of course you know about the adopt a newbie thread :), and trudi is of course the guru of wintersowing seeds although i have not done a seed exchange there i have heard others rave about what they got! maybe between the three you can get a big variety.
