| When I joined this list, I was planning for a community garden that my church was planning to start. That has since fallen through, BUT I have switched to plan B. There are several church members who are joining me in a gardening co-op. We'll all share duties in planting gardens at our homes, and the produce will be shared with each other and the community. Not the BEST situation, but it'll get us through this year.
Now I need seeds. Thanks to generous folks here and a couple of swaps, I have a pretty good variety of tomato (yes, I'm an addict!) Unfortunately, I don't have much of any one variety. Great for my PERSONAL garden, but tough for planting for a crowd.
Keeping in mind that we need easy to grow veggies that are good producers (I have been reading, but I still don't know enough about varieties to know what to ask for.) We need:
*Salad greens
*Tomatoes
*Sweet peppers
*Greens (turnips, cabbage, etc)
*Beans
*okra
*broccoli
*cauliflower
*peas
*melons
*berries
*herbs
PLEASE don't let this short list limit. I don't know what is easy to grow. We have very few members (ok, 1, and she's in her 70s) with extensive experience in gardening. I am counting on the experience of those of you on the list to guide me in this!
If there is a company that I need to be directed to, (meaning REALLY cheap, but good seeds) let me know. We don't have a budget for this, but I could possibly get a collection together.
Thank you in advance for your help.
