Hello. I'm a new gardener and new to this forum. I hope you are all well. I'm interested in obtaining seeds. I've just started to store seeds myself and nothing is ready (yet) to exchange. Can anyone steer me in a direction to get free seeds on the web somewhere or with a SASE? I will pay postage for anyone who could offer seeds without an exchange.
Thank you in advance and happy gardening to you all.

Hi Jess,

You need to go into your profile and click the box that makes you able to get e-mails from Garden Web members.

You can also sign up to be adopted in the "Adopt a Newbie 3" thread.

I have included a link below that a member here turned me onto for up to 6 packages a month of seeds for a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

You can also respond to any of the threads in here offering postage and envelope offers.

What sort of seeds are you interested in?

Someone posted on this site about a website where you can get seeds for just a SASE and your list of seeds you would like. I sent mine in last week and received them yesterday so now they are in soil and I will see how well they do as they are seeds that are a couple years old but if they have been well cared for they will be just fine. They ask for a list of 8 wants and will send 6 of those, the added number to the list is in case they do not have all you requested. You use the free seeds hyperlink which may be hard to find at first then make your selection and send with your enclosed envelope with 2 stamps and the order list. They send me 7 sample packets in those small plastic envelopes so now I also have reusable envelopes to send seeds to others. Have fun as you can order again after a month.

Hi Just_Jes,

Welcome to Garden Web!

Please see the link below.

The (OP)original post tells how to set up your Member Page email link so that you can easily be reached. It also explains how to set up your garden zone/location in your profile so it will automatically be shown whenever you post.

The first reply in the thread explains how to fill out your Member Trade list, even if it is just for those things you are interested in growing. You can be as general or specific as you care to be...example...perennial flowers, annual flowers, veggies, herbs, shrubs, vines, etc.

The second reply explains how to look for and handle the many generous 'seeds for postage' offers.

Hopefully you can find many things of interest to you in the offers.

Oh...once you get 'set up' you might want to check out the adopt a newbie 3 thread offer.

RE: New Gardener.

Hey Jess,

Hopefully this link will work. If not, go to gardenweb.com, click on 'Forums: Garden', then under 'Exchanges and Trading' there is an option marked, 'etc'. Click on that, then chose 'search Members' Lists', then scroll down to where it says 'Edit your exchange list'. There you can post what seeds you are interested in so that people can offer you SASBE. (That way we know what you want to grow)

Hope that helps :-)
