WANTED: Wanted - Serviceberry/Juneberry/Saskatoon Seed or Plant

Saskatoon, Serviceberry, Juneberry, Amelanchier alnifolia, whatever you want to call it.

I'm looking for seeds or suckers from good quality Saskatoons. I would prefer if you know the name of the parent cultivar, but I'm happy with seed from good tasting fruit and good healthy growing plants. I would like to find multiple sources or someone with multiple cultivars.

The season is almost here for the berries, save me the seeds from your jelly making or smoothie please.

St. Lawrence nurseries, in Postdam, NY, has an excellent selection of Juneberry plants, in addition to a lot of other cold-hardy fruit. They are old-school, though, you have to print out an order form and mail it with a check.

I have a few from them (Martin, Honeywood, Smokey). My advice: Fence them in immediately, the deer will eat the young plants. Also, so far they are slow growing, so be prepared to wait a few years.
