wanted: need help with devil's claw seeds please

Received some Devil's Claw (Proboscidea Parviflora var. Hohokamiana) seeds in a trade

I'm in SoCal / Z10
Is it cool to sow them now
Is it to late in the season to start them

Only have 5 to play with
So don't want to mess things up

P. parviflora is a summer annual. Even though our zones are quite different I probably would wait until next year. I do not know if they are day length sensitive but that would be the key. I sometimes start mine in the greenhouse at the beginning of March but they seem to do just as well by direct sowing in April. I'm sure you could sow much earlier than I.
On the other hand, if you are successful with fall sowing other summer annuals you may be just as successful with these. Maybe someone else can inform you of their response to day length.
My two cents for what it is worth (about one cent, adjusted for inflation),
