| Hello,
I just received some Pawpaw seeds from 'country boy', and I have been reading up on giving them their best chance to fruit well. I read that they need another Pawpaw that is not genetically the same in order to fruit well. Can anyone else offer Pawpaw seeds so that I can have the proper genetic diversity in the grouping of trees? I am happy to trade, or will also send a SASBE if you wish. I REALLY want to grow this fruit, and hope someone can help.

| Robin, You don't need pawpaws from different people. All you need is pawpaws from different seeds. In other words, if you grow two pawpaws from two seeds, no matter whether those two seeds came out of the same fruit or off the same tree, you're going to have two pawpaws that will cross-pollinate each other. That said, I would recommend grafting your pawpaws over to superior, named cultivars anyways, in which case what would bloom wouldn't be the trees you planted -- they'd only supply the roots and the first little bit of stem -- but what would bloom would be the varieties you grafted onto them. |
